Anika Pyle released the first single off of her forthcoming EP Four Corners this morning. Titled “Arizona”, its an earworm full of bouncy indie pop that should immediately bring a smile to your face. Pyle describes the EP as her homage to the American Southwest, a place which she vowed many years ago that she would never return to (as a home). But as so often happens, life got in the way and Anika has found herself back in Colorado. Ironically, it appears that she’s enlisted most of (if not close to all of) her Philadelphia friends and cronies to help her out with this new set of songs. Upon hearing “Arizona” it immediately appears on the face of it that Pyle is in a much different place than whe inhabited during the recording of her debut solo effort Wild River, which primarily dealt with the loss of her father and the subsequent grief attached to that loss. ”Arizona” on the other hand sounds and feels like someone who has traveled that dark tunnel and come out the other end to a world of sunshine, hope and inspiration.

The full EP is scheduled to drop in February
