17. Josh Fortenbery – No Such Thing As Forever

Josh Fortenbery’s debut album is what my southern friends would call “porch music”. To put it in clearer, more common vernacular, its a beautiful old time country album straight out of Apalachia. But the thing is Fortenbery despite having lived in North Carolina, Wisconsin, Thailand, and Mexico, he currently lives (for the better part of the last 6 years) in Juneau, Alaska and is very content playing bars and backrooms up in the tundra along with his friends in what they call The Muskeg Collective. Anyways, if you like simple country/folk music with lilting fiddle playing, sweet slide guitar and rhythmic mandolin, all of which is the backdrop to some fine story telling, you ought to give this one a spin.
