04. Waxahatchee – Tiger’s Blood
Katie Crutchfeld has been on some kind of roll these past couple of years. Picking up right where 2020’s breakout LP, Saint Cloud left off, Waxahatchee has not only hit their stride but that stride is setting the pace for a veritable entire genre of alt-country/indie female singer-songwriters. Tiger’s Blood is a beauty of an album. From the opening guitar strum of album opener, “3 Sisters” to the angelic closing falsetto vocals of “Much Ado About Nothing” there is nary a bad note on the entire album. And oh yeah, the duet between Katie and MJ Lenderman on “Right Back To It” is a pure unadulterated masterpiece.
