03. MJ Lenderman – Manning Fireworks

What can I possibly say about MJ that hasn’t already waxed poetic about this album since it was released.  Back in 2022 when Boat Songs came out, I will be the first to admit, that despite including it in my top 20, that I more or less slept on it…it should have finished WAYYY higher.  Anyway, that being said, over the course of those two years Lenderman and his band, The Wind, have really hit their stride and with Manning Fireworks he has put out the best Neil Young album that Neil had nothing to do with.  Manning FIreworks could have been the fourth album in the Ditch Trilogy and as anyone who knows me and my musical preferences, this is pretty much some of the highest praises I could possibly bestow on an artist.
