Florry – “First It Was A Movie, Then It Was A Book”

Holy shit, this song just might be the best thing I’ve heard from the year 2025. From the moment I heard the distorted guitar chords into that pounding electronic drum beat into the country tinged guitar strum I was hooked. Then Francie Medosch starts her talking blues rant ala Courtney & Kurt from Lotta Lice and I haven’t been able to stop listening to this song for the past 24 hrs. The choogling rythms along with that infectious repetative guitar riff just grabs you and doesn’t let you go. And then around 5 minutes in you get Jon Cox on pedal steel moving front and center before Francie takes us on another plunge into dirt and grime as the band slowly builds up momentum all the while that incessant guitar riff keeps floating higher and higher.

“First It Was A Book…” has catapulted the upcoming Florry LP, Sounds Like, which is due to hit the shelves next month to the top of my most anticipated albums of the year.

Florry will be out and about on the road supporting the new album in June, including a stop at Ridgewood’s TV Eye on June 28th.
