NOBRO Live at Elsewhere Zone One (2025-06-14)
I need to thank Stefan Babcock from PUP for originally turning me on to, not only THE hardest hitting female punk band performing today, but even more so, one of the rockingest punk bands out there, PERIOD!
Ever since I first caught their show at Bowery Ballroom back in ’21, I make it a point to never miss a NOBRO show here in NYC. Hell I’ve even made the trip to their native Canada to catch them.

Anyhow, they’re currently winding down a co-headline tour with Bad Waitress (more on them in a following post) which brought them to Bushwick’s Elsewhere Zone One on Saturday night. And despite a 10 PM curfew imposed by the venue, Kathryn McCaughey and the rest of NOBRO put on a ferocious set of adrenalin fueled, hard hitting, fist pumping, middle finger raising pandemonium.
The band itself has had a bit of a lineup change since I last saw the band last September in Toronto but new drummer, Andy Silver and additional guitarist, Josée Caron have hit the ground running, adding a strong foundation and an added depth to the band’s sound. Tara Cohen, on keyboards and percussion has had to deal with the unenviable task of filling the shoes of powerhouse fireball, Lisandre Bourdages. And from what I witnessed on Saturday, those shoes will ultimately be a perfect fit for her and the band’s infectious grooves.
And as you’ll see from these pix, they barely have any fun during their gigs.
