02. Sounds Like – Florry (Dear Life Records)

The opening track of Sounds Like, “First It Was A Movie, Then It Was A Book” was hands down my favorite song of 2025.  Francie Medosch’s slow talking blues which permeates the song reminds me of early Courtney Barnett which in turn was (and is in this case as well) a homage to Lou Reed.  But then the guitars kick in and all of a sudden it’s like Crazy Horse has taken over.  The song is 7 minutes of pure fun.  “Waiting Around To Provide” follows next and the Neil Young similarities are there once again, especially with Francie’s harmonica playing throughout.  Sounds Like to put it plainly is just a flat out FUN album.  It’s an album that sounds like it was a blast to record.  You can just tell everyone involved is having a blast, especially Medosch who you can just picture with that awkward grin plastered on her face song after song.  Let me warn you however, if your thing is sharp and polished, this album might not be for you.  But if your thing is down and dirty and sometimes just a wee bit sloppy (in the best of ways), then Sounds Like is the album for you.
