UK foursome, Fightmilk have been around for some nine years now, having grown up and formed in the neighborhoods of South London. They burst upon the British music scene with their debut LP, Not With That Attitude in 2018 and released their follow up, Contender in 2021. Both albums received considerable good press from the British music media establishment and upon the relaxing of lockdown regulations the band has been on a almost non-stop touring schedule across the UK and European continent. Somehow during this relentless their touring the band found time to record their 3rd LP, No Souvenirs and we are all luckier for it.

Clearly over the course of 6 years since thier debut album, the band has transformed from the young 20 somethings to the still young 30 somethings of today. Gone are the heartfelt breakup songs of their earlier recordings, replaced by newer more mature themes like “Eat for Two”, a hard churning rocker which no one will ever mistake for a cover version of the 10,000 Maniac song with the same title.

No Souvenirs is, start to finish, a pure unadulterated rock and roll album, with the sole ballad (“Paddling Pool”) on the album tucked away in the second to last track of the disc. As a matter of fact No Souvenirs is pretty much the culmination of everything which was praised about their earlier work. There’s emo sensibilities combined with girl group sunshiney vibes (“Summer Bodies”), there’s pop punk hooks all over the place, there’s jangley power pop guitar driven hooks (“Inferno”) and of course there’s the previously mentioned “Eat For Two” with its Plastic Bertrand meets Bully hyper aggresive power chord booming throughout.

All in all, No Souvinirs is a banger of an album. It deserves at least one listen by anyone who loves rock and roll and I’m fairly certain that upon that one listen, it will be something you find yourself going back to over and over again
