Hercules– Tracey Nelson (Perenial Death Records)

For those of us who crave another MJ Lenderman adjacent band/artist, Tracey Nelson released his debut full length LP Hercules today.  Nelson, currently of Brooklyn but originally from Lawrence, KS fits squarely in the Lenderman & The Wind mold, with a slow mumbly drawl for a vocal style (with a kind of Arlo Guthrie thing going on) and unassuming indie alt-country slacker instrumentation.    Of course this isn’t too surprising since MJ coproduced the LP and is part of Nelson’s studio band (although not part of his touring band). Nothing ground breaking here but if this is your sort of thing, its a pretty nice listen.  There’s a record release show tomorrow at Baby’s All Right which I’ll probably be going to.  More on that later.
