Summer’s Almost Gone – The Goods

A quick search of The Goods on Bandcamp will result in a bunch of bands with this name. There’s one from LA, there’s one from Australia and even one from New Jersey. But alas, this particular The Goods is from Oakland, CA and its the band name for songwriter, vocalist and band leader, Rob Good.
Coming on the heals of last year’s excellent Don’t Spoil The Fun release, “Summer’s Almost Gone” is the first track off of September’s pending LP, Goodbye Summer . And although this being July 22nd and I hate the prospect of this song’s title being true, the tune nonetheless is pure summertime power pop heaven. Kicking off (quite literally) with a bouncy kick drum beat, soon followed by jangly guitar riffs before Goods’ sugary sweet vocals kick in, “Summer’s Almost Gone” is a picture perfect tune for cold refreshing swimming holes in the Catskill Mountains or breaking waves on white hot sand at the Jersey Shore. If this one doesn’t get the juices flowing, the toes tapping and the hips shimmying then we just might need to check your pulse to make sure you’re still of the living.
Goodbye Summer is scheduled for release September 16th.
